Welcome

We warmly invite you to worship and learn with us!

We would be very happy to see you at Fair Oaks Community Church of God. Visitors are always welcome and we think you will find us to be a warm, friendly and caring congregation, a place to belong.

We are interested in the spiritual welfare of each child, teen, adult and family in our neighborhood and everywhere. Ours is a church with a focus on the Bible and its message of GOD’S KINGDOM. We view the Bible as God’s Word and therefore the foundation for all that we try to do. We strive to have an ever expanding ministry and a positive awareness of our responsibilities to the world in which we live. Our MISSION is that Fair Oaks Community Church of God exists to glorify God by providing mutual support and fellowship, promoting Christ-like living, and encouraging others to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Our congregation was established in the 1940s. In 1960, we moved from Washington, D.C., to Virginia. Other members joined us from Maryland and Pennsylvania. We feel that God has blessed us richly in many ways during these years. We give Him all the praise for all the goodness and gladness we enjoy.

Our full name is “FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CHURCH OF GOD — ABRAHAMIC FAITH.” We are directly affiliated with the Church of God General Conference of McDonough, Georgia, and we have ties with the Restoration Fellowship. We are also associated with the Virginia State Conference of the Church of God, a fellowship of comparable churches in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The name “Church of God” is based on the Apostle Paul’s salutation to the church in Corinth. (1 Cor. 1:2; 2 Cor. 1:1) The subtitle “Abrahamic Faith” distinguishes us from the many other denominations that call themselves Church of God. Abraham was a man of demonstrated great faith. As a result, he was the recipient of several promises from God, the greatest of which being that his seed (heirs) would inherit the Kingdom of God. He was an outstanding example for all who desire to please our God and Father in heaven. We are bound together by the theme: “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”  Galatians 3:29.
